I've been stamping!

Hello everybody! It's been a busy couple of weeks around here, what with helping a friend pack to move , and a 3-day weekend trip to Charlotte, and then I had to get ready for the Vintage Vogue class (FUN!); and now I'm getting ready for the Summer Mini-catalog Open House! It's this Saturday May 1st, you can stop in any time between 10 & 4 to see some of the new stuff from this fab mini catalogs, see new samples, and make a little something new for yourself. I'll also have my mass quantities of retired stamps available for your shopping pleasure - please be sure to take some of them home with you! I'll be here all day, but please RSVP here if you know about what time you'll be stopping by so I can plan my day.

Well I've been working on samples for the Open House, but other stuff keeps distracting me... Like the awesome Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set - I picked it up for 20% off, and until April 31st you can too! Trendy Trees, Greenhouse Garden, and Flower Fancy (also awesome, and singing a siren song from the stack on my work table) are ALSO 20% off until the end of the month! These are all Two-step Stampin' sets, like the cool NEW set Awash with Flowers, the sneak peak from the upcoming Idea Book & Catalog - you can get all the details in this flyer.

So anyway, here's one result of my distraction, lol. I used one of the smaller images from Fifth Avenue Floral to create a background pattern, colored the dots in the center with a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker, and then colored the dots again with a Versamarker & clear embossed them. I also covered the middle Rose Red layer of the greeting with Versamark and clear embossed. The Rose Red mat layer was embossed with the new Square Lattice embossing folder from the new Summer Mini, which starts Saturday! I actually used what I think is the BACK of the embossed piece, which to me looks as cool as the front - it's like getting two embossing folders for the price of one!

I really like the subtle effect of the embossed dots, it's a little hard to see even in this detail picture.

And on the inside I used a strip of the same floral background piece. :)

Fun! So here's the list of ingredients:

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral (113734); Warm Words (115108)
Paper: Sahara Sand (105328), Rose Red (102544), Whisper White (100730), Chocolate Chip (102128)
Ink: Rose Red Classic Inkpad (101778), Chocolate Chip Classic Inkpad (100908), Versamark Pad (102283), Versamarker (100901), Chocolate Chip Marker (100071)
Tools/Accessories: Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Top Note Die (113463), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Crop-a-Dile (108362), Chocolate Chip 5/8" Satin Ribbon (117287), 5/16" Jumbo Brads (112534), Punches: Slit (104388), Small Oval (107304), Large Oval (107305), Scalloped Oval (114889), Wide Oval (112082), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

That's all for now - I'll try to post a sample with the sneak peek set Awash with Flowers in the next day or so - like the 20% off deal, you only have until Friday the 31st! So call or email me now if you don't want to miss out, or shop online now!

Exciting news... And it's all about COLOR!

Stampin' Up! has announced the Renovation of our color palette! It's a full-on remodel, and it's a decision they didn't take lightly - from the press release:

"The company extensively researched trends in fashion, design, paper crafting and home decor for almost two years in addition to holding focus groups with customers and demonstrators to decide on the palette of colors that would make up the color renovation."

The new color collections will officially launch with the new Idea Book & Catalog on July 1st. Click the picture to see them - I can't wait!

While I'll miss some of the colors that are retiring (of course), I LOVE the new colors, and the new configuration of the "Color Collections." I must say, I think Stampin' Up! is dead on with their research; I recently read an article about color trends where they talked about how "neutrals" are becoming focal colors and color trends are moving toward richer versions of neutrals, combining with complementary vibrant reds, blues and oranges. Sounds about right to me!

The Four new Color Collections have 10 colors each, including Five brand new colors: Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Early Expresso, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist; plus 10 returning colors, which I'm very excited about: Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Soft Suede, Riding Hood Red, Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, and Baja Breeze.

Several colors will be retiring, but for the most part they're colors that I reach for the least often - how did Stampin' Up! do that?? lol Click the picture to see the full list, and remember you have until the end of June to stock up on cardstock, markers, ink pads and ink refills in your favorites. Personally, I wouldn't wait until the last minute, I'm not sure if it will be a "while supplies last" situation or not.

The other big color change is for the In Colors: We’ll have 5 new In Colors each year, and these colors will now have a lifespan of two years instead of one. So this July 1st we'll have 5 new In Colors for a total of 45 colors; and starting July 1st of 2011 there will be 5 MORE new In Colors, plus the 5 introduced this year, for a total of 50 colors!!

We will continue to offer the following other choices of card stock: Brushed Gold, Brushed Silver, Confetti Cream, Confetti White, Glossy White, Naturals Ivory, Naturals White, Shimmery White, and White vellum card stock, as well as White vellum paper.

Classic ink will be available in all 40 core colors. However, based on sales history, full-size Craft Stampin’ Pads will only be available in Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White. Craft Stampin’ Spots (available in collections) and Craft Stampin’ Ink refills (available individually) will still be available in all of the core colors to use for embossing, coloring chipboard, and scrapbooking. BUT if you like Craft ink and want full-size inkpads NOW is the time to order them as full-size Craft inkpads will only be available in white, vanilla, or black as of July 1st. (A blank Craft pad will be available in an upcoming mini catalog, so you'll eventually be able to create your own inkpads by purchasing the blank pads and Craft ink refills.) And don't forget to buy Craft ink refills for any of the retiring colors you like!

And how cool is this: A digital download will be available on July 1 to add the new colors to your My Digital Studio software, free of charge! I love Stampin' Up!

Lots of new info to digest, but don't worry! The new Color Collections don't start until July 1st, so we have plenty of time! Feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like to order some of the retiring products! You can also shop online anytime, 24-7!

Ta for now!

Meeting Swaps

Just thought I'd pop on here for a minute & share the swaps my sister & I made for our group meeting last Saturday - I did the card, & Denise did the cute little box from the Matchbox Die for the Big Shot. (I apologize for the dark pictures - I'll take better ones for the gallery & add the supply list when I get home.) Ohmygosh, we had SO much fun at the meeting. It was great getting to see everyone, and the projects were AWESOME as always. Stay tuned next week: I'm planning to offer a class of some of the projects we made, and I'll also share pics of some of the swaps I received!

I'm having a great time at my sister's house, & it's wonderful to get to see my nephew while he's home on leave from Iraq! This is Stephen & his wife Amber at the airport the day he landed - aren't they cute? I can't wait until he's home for good!

Don't forget - Wednesday is the final day of Sale-a-Bration, so if you want to get one of the teriffic Sale-a-Bration items for FREE with any $50 order, now's the time! You can shop online or email me to order.

Now where's my magic wand....

So Yahoo tells me that Harry Houdini, the famous magician, was born today - well, today in 1874. Houdini of course was famous for wow-ing audiences of the early 1900's with his "magical" escapes and stunts.

Well I'm no escape artist, but I have to say that sometimes I feel like a magician when I do a workshop. Workshop guests are usually beginners, and I can't even describe the happy satisfaction I get when I show beginners how easy it is to create something cool with stamps & ink & cardstock. When I hold up the finished project and bask in the oohs & ahhs, I feel like I really pulled a rabbit out of the hat! lol

Call or email me now to schedule your own magic show err, workshop - in my home or yours!

Coloring is so much fun!

Hi everyone!

So I didn't go to Steeplechase this year, how about you all? I want to get on the list for a tail-gating space on the rails, that's the best way to go! lol My daughter went with one of her friends and (of course) got sunburned. Same thing every year!

Well instead of going to Steeplechase, I'm working on some swaps for my upline's team meeting next Saturday. I really lucked out - the team meetings are in Cincinnati & this one just happens to be the weekend I was heading up there anyway to see my nephew, who's coming home on leave from Iraq!

So I need to come up with some cards to swap at the meeting, and I decided to use this image from A Flower for all Seasons - which by the way you can get for FREE with any $50 order during Sale-a-Bration! (#120231)

I'm not actually done with the cards yet, but the first thing I did was stamp the tulip basket image in Stazon black ink several times for my focal point, and spent a happy hour or so coloring them all in with my Stampin' Write markers. After I'd colored most of them in I decided to use a technique I first started using back when I was a kid coloring with crayons (we won't talk about how long ago that is)! When I really wanted to get fancy in my coloring books I would color an image in and then use a slightly darker shade to go over the outline. It really makes an image pop, no matter what you're coloring with. (lol) Just take a look at the difference:

Coloring TipsColoring Tips

The two images on the outside just seem to have a lot more depth, and the flowers really stand out. Isn't that little birdie cute? I'll show you the finished cards after the meeting - and stay tuned in a few days for another card I have to show you! :)

Tootles!

I just LOVE workshops!

So, I had such a fun workshop last week (thanks a bunch for hosting, Tracey!!).  I don't do workshops very often, and I forget how much fun it is to meet some new people & chat & and have some girl time.  And I can't tell you how awesome it is to show new people how to stamp - it's my favorite thing about workshops!  Stamping is just wayyyy easier than most people realize until they actually try it, & once they catch on you just see them start to have fun with it & before they know it they've made something pretty!  In fact, that's what makes me capable of being a demonstrator, lol. I've never been very good at public speaking (I still get nervous sometimes & stutter & forget stuff, lol) but workshops are just relaxing & having fun, making cool stuff and helping new friends discover their own creative side!  Plus it's fun getting to spoil my hostess with little gifts, & help her earn free goodies from the catalog!

To help YOU enjoy the fun of workshops, I'm offering a new experience:  a Studio Workshop!  It's the same as an in-home workshop, only it's held in MY home!

  • YOU are the hostess, so YOU can earn FREE STUFF!
  • YOU just invite your friends/neighbors/coworkers/etc. to my house - 5-10 people is perfect. (You don't even have to worry about cleaning your house to be ready for company!)
  • YOU bring snacks/food for stampin' fuel.  (I provide bottled water, paper plates, etc.)
  • WE ALL do some chatting & laughing & snacking & chatting & laughing &... well you get the picture!
  • I demonstrate some fun stampin' projects & techniques.
  • I provide a free project or two for everyone to make!
  • YOU & YOUR GUESTS get to hang out in my stamp room & see my stuff.
  • More chatting/laughing/snacking/ordering, etc.
  • WE ALL have a great time!
  • YOU get to pick out your FREE hostess stuff & go shopping in the catalog, according to the workshop's total sales!
So get some friends together & lets have fun!  Contact me today to book YOUR Studio Workshop!

What a gorgeous weekend!

Hello everyone!  I hope you're all enjoying the gorgeous weekend we're having!  I'm determined to clean & fill all my birdfeeders this weekend.  I've sadly neglected my poor little bird friends this winter, they probably gave up on the feeders ever getting done.  I had my husband fill up the one out front on Monday (it's too high for me to reach! lol)  and by Wednesday afternoon I noticed it was half empty already!  Poor little starving birds.  Birds Nest

Here is a project I demonstrated at my workshop last week, a super cute gift card holder from Dawn Griffith:
Gift Card HolderI used the coolio Scallop Trim border punch (#118402) that you can earn for FREE during Sale-a-Bration, and the new Extra-Large Fancy Flower punch (#118073) from the Occasions mini-catalog, along with the With All My Heart stamp set (#118134-wood #118623-clear). See how the large flower fits perfectly in that punched-out flower shape?  And the ribbon is the 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Celery (#117288), also from the Occasions Mini.

Isn't it cute?  Maybe we can make these at YOUR workshop!

6x6 Scrap PageAfter I demonstrated the gift card holder, we all made this cute 6x6 scrapbook page using the Butterfly punch (#116629) and the Upsy Daisy (#111710) stamp set.  We also used the new Pinking Heart corner punch (#118072) and that scrumptious new Sweet Pea designer paper (#117161), both from the Occasions mini - I just love this paper stack - 48 scrumptious 12x12 pages!

Vintage Vogue CardFor our last project, we all made this pretty card using the Vintage Vogue stamp set (#117690-wood #118598-clear) & 5/8" Old Olive Satin Ribbon (#117292) from the Occasions mini, and that fun Scallop Trim border punch again.  I love using stamps to make your own designer paper!

Workshop projects are always fun - simple enough for the beginner, but pretty enough for everyone!  Contact me to schedule your own free workshop - better hurry if you want to reap the benefits of Sale-a-Bration, it ends March 30th!!

Ta for now!
